Gurkey had an emergency operation he survived the operation but had issues after surgery with a blood clot and did not make it. He is survived by his four brothers. Gurkey was the special charm of all the rats. Very friendly and always wanted pets rubbing his head under your hand every time. A little wobbly like his mom Pickles. but always ran up when you called his name. He was a very good rat.

  • Greg Update

    Greg Update

Unfortunately one of our rescues Greg has passed away. Greg came to us with Arthur and Simon as a Facebook listing rats for pets or food. All of them were in horrible conditions and very underweight being feed dog for and water out of bowls That I believe were only filled for our benefit when we got them. Arthur was the youngest and spine showing missing hair on the back due to poor living conditions. They all drank water for two days after a couple of months they all gained weight and became very happy rats. Greg however recently was slow , slow to move around not as playful and at times would do ouch stretches . Unfortunately we did not catch this soon enough made and appointment with the vet but days before was mouth gasping and showing signs of congestive heart failure. This suddenly being a factor we had him put to sleep and buried in the now rat graveyard. He was a very good rat and we were happy to have gave him a much better home while we could.

  • Jerkface Update

    Jerkface Update

At Abby’s Home for Wayward Rats we have a couple of rescues that are in their end years. With this they need extra elder care. Jerkface was a very anti social rat that would bite and fiercely defend his territory. We can not say what he needed to go though before rescued. Hover over the time I have been able to slowly pet him to being able to pick him up and massage the old rat till hi chittered and gave me licks. This is a supreme victory in the world of rats. As his is getting on in his years we are trying hard to make them good for him. Here he is getting apple sauce as a treat going back into his cage after some free roam time.
